Creating and managing short links

Edit destinations after sharing, copy links, generate QR codes, and organise your dashboard.

Every link in Snipvio stays under your control after you share it. This guide covers the full lifecycle.

Creating a link

Paste a URL into the box at the top of your dashboard. Snipvio validates it before creating anything:

  • Only http:// and https:// URLs are accepted
  • javascript: and data: URLs are rejected outright, as they are a common attack vector
  • Links pointing back at Snipvio itself are refused, to prevent redirect loops

Your short code is seven random characters drawn from 62 possibilities, giving roughly 3.5 trillion combinations. Codes are never sequential, so nobody can guess or enumerate other people's links.

Editing the destination

This is the feature that saves people most often. Select Edit on any link and change where it points.

The short link itself does not change. Anything already printed, posted, or scheduled keeps working and now goes to the new destination.

Use it when:

  • You sent the wrong URL to a mailing list
  • A campaign page moved
  • A product sold out and you want to redirect to something else
  • Your printed QR code needs to point somewhere new next season

Copying and sharing

Copy puts the full short URL on your clipboard. If you have a custom domain connected, your links can be served from your own brand instead.

QR codes

Every link has a QR button that shows a scannable code and a download link. For branded QR codes with patterns, colours, frames, and logos, use the QR design studio.

Searching and filtering

As your list grows:

  • Search matches both the short code and the destination URL
  • All / New / Top clicked filters by recency and popularity

Deleting a link

Delete removes a link permanently and it stops redirecting immediately. Anyone who follows it afterwards sees a not-found page.

Deletion cannot be undone, and the short code is not recycled. Think carefully before deleting a link that exists in print.

Monthly limits

The free plan allows 50 new links per calendar month. The counter resets on the first of each month, and your dashboard shows exactly when. Paid plans have no limit.

Hitting the limit never affects existing links. They keep working normally.
